20 postcards for Noto Peninsula

Nik van der Giesen, incredibly talented Dutch photographer living in Japan created 20 stunning postcards featuring some of his favourite places in the Noto Peninsula, to not only showcase the area's beauty to encourage people visiting someday, but also to collect donations to help rebuilding the extensive damages caused by the devastating earthquake that happened on the 1st of January 2024.

"On January 1st, 2024, a devastating earthquake struck off the coast of the Noto Peninsula, causing extensive damage not only to Ishikawa Prefecture but also to neighboring prefectures Toyama and Niigata. The Noto Peninsula was hit the hardest, with many homes, shrines, and temples across the peninsula left in ruins. In Wajima, a massive fire destroyed the morning market area, while in Suzu, the earthquake and subsequent tsunamis destroyed about 90% of the town’s buildings.

Noto has always held a special place in our hearts, so we felt a strong desire to help. We've decided to collect donations by selling postcards featuring photos of some of our favorite spots in Noto. We hope these postcards will not only showcase Noto’s beauty but also encourage others to visit someday. Rebuilding Noto will take time and resources. We believe that Noto can recover, but the people need all the help they can get. We hope these postcards will make a small contribution towards the recovery of the Noto Peninsula.

All the proceeds from selling these postcards, minus production costs, will go towards the recovery efforts in Noto. We will announce at a later date which initiatives the money will go towards".
